This is what we're missing in modern top-tier racing, the FIA is just too damn smart now. You'd never see this, or a six wheeled Tyrrell for that matter, in modern F1.

In one of the books I have on F1 technology, there is a chapter on banned tech. I think it's my favorite chapter.

I think I have another one like, "Too fast to race" or something that covers more of this. I love that shit. Some of the ideas are so blatantly against the rules, but some are so fucking clever. I need to read those again.

They ran it in Long Beach in 198(2?) to protest the regulations limiting the size, but not the number of wings. There was no performance advantage to running it. They were just trying to close a loophole.
